Life has been rather hectic but I wanted to check in before the year ends - tonite! :)

The college experience continues and all is well. My daughter has adjusted and is working hard and doing very well. She runs to the mailbox every day to get her grades - this is a good sign!! She is very happy with her roommate which is a huge relief!!! Chelsea and her Mom brought Judith home for Christmas break a couple of weeks ago. We ran up to Freeport and did some Christmas shopping and had lunch. This wonderful family will be friends for life ~ what a blessing!

Now if I may, I have something that I have been wanting to blog about for some time. Let's talk toxicity - and let's go right to dentistry. Dentists are pushing for the dripping of a highly toxic chemical waste product into the water supply...a substance that is scraped off the smokestacks of industrial polluters. They want every person to actually drink this substance! The material is toxic waste that is regulated by the EPA. It would be highly illegal to drip it into a river or a stream, but for some reason , it is perfectly legal to drip it into the public water supply and let people drink it. They no longer consider this toxic substance toxic if it passes throught he bodies of human beings first. What substance am I talking about??? Fluorosilicic acid, otherwise known by it's short name , FLUORIDE.

Across the country and around the world, dentists are insisting that we drip fluoride into the public water supply. For what purpose? To protect the teeth? Can you be serious?? People are swallowing this liquid - not rinsing it in their mouth and spitting it out, they are ingesting it. Now as a result, we have flourosis, and bone disorders that are related to the over-consumption of fluoride.

Long story short, they want to medicate an entire population with a drug, a biologically active drug, without first diagnosing any individual in that community. In other words, they want to medicate everyone across the board with with the exact same dosage, regardless of that person's individual health needs, regardless of how much other fluoride they may be exposed to on a regular basis. This is insanity but not totally surprising based on the fact that these dentists are the same ones that put mercury into your mouth, so it only makes sense that they also want to poison your entire body by putting fluorosilicic acid into the water supply.

They don't call it flourosilicic acid of course, because that might scare people! They call it fluoride and they will even decieve the public and call it "naturally occuring fluoride." There is nothing natural about fluorosilicic acid. I read an article recently about a man going to a community water supply and asking about where they get the fluoride. He asked if the fluoride is dug out of the ground in natural fluoride deposits. He was told that it was bought from an industrial waste processing company because it's cheaper. SCARY!!
Go ahead and call your community water supply and inquire about the fluoride. I did and the town I live in doesn't add fluoride to the water - I had heard this from the pediatrician because they have always pushed fluoride tablets for the kids because we don't fluoridate the water here in town. God Bless America!!

As Einstein once said, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

I'm glad to get that one out there before 2006 comes to a close. There is much more on my mind and I will be giving you more - on a regular basis - really!! Subjects that come to mind are chemicals in our food, ie sweetners (artificial, of course) , hydrogenated oils, personal care products.

Wishing all a Blessed, Safe, Healthy, and Happy New Year !!

IT'S OFFICIAL! OFF TO COLLEGE!!!

John and I drove my oldest daughter to college on Friday! We got off to a rocky start when little sister had a meltdown saying bye to big sister. She got in the car and said - "ugh, it was going great until Andrea started! sniff, sniff," Judith and Alison had a quick hug and kiss and we were off! It was a pretty uneventful ride, as Judith slept for over an hour. She was very nervous, especially when it started pouring. We brought John's truck and the back was loaded with cardboard boxes. Electronics, etc. were in the back seat with Judith, so all was well. We registered - had to check in with health services and we passed right through. We arrived at the dorm in a downpour! Fortunately, there were upper classmen and women who unloaded for us - it was heaven. Judith's room mate is a very sweet girl - HUGE relief for Judith!! Her parents were lovely and the six of us got the room unpacked and set up. The men worked on computers, printers, and all of the electronic necessities...refrigerator...etc. We ran out for a late lunch and a quick stop at Staples - I forgot light bulbs and push pins- just a few little things like a usb adapter, etc. Our quick lunch and shopping trip were a highlight - very light, lots of laughs! The three of us together is always something special. Back at the dorm John finished up with software issues and it was time for the residence hall meeting. Judith breezed in for a quick hug and kiss and she was off!!! Sweet...I thought , NO TEARS ! :) We finished up and laughed as we were leaving the room - we'll never see this room look like this again! Both mothers agreed that they don't keep a very neat room!

We headed back to Maine and were happy, tired, and relieved - it had gone so well and Judith seemed anxious to get on with her college life - very exciting!! I did have one moment when I turned to John and said, "I can't believe I left her in Massachusetts!" He agreed and we both laughed and started talking about how much fun we had in college. She is going to have the time of her life!!

Back at home we are adjusting - it does seem very quiet with only two. Alison and Andrea are getting along (so far!) and Ali has taken over Judith's job at the local pizza joint. She seems to be taking it in stride and we are in close contact with Judith. A wonderful friend and very wise soul reminded me ..things are the same, just rearranged. We will all adjust and emerge as stonger people with a stronger family bond. It all sounds pretty simple and straight forward. Isn't it amazing how the mind runs and the imagination takes over when we are presented with a new and challenging event in our lives??!! We are looking forward to family weekend at the end of September. I like that - instead of parents weekend, which it seems all of the colleges follow, it is a family weekend. Judith is blessed to be attending a wonderful school and we are looking forward with great excitement to the next four years. I am sure it will fly by ! Listening to Moms that are sending their first off to school , I am taken aback at how fast it all goes by. It seems to me Judith was just going off to school at 5 years old and we have barely blinked and she is off to college. People always used to tell me to enjoy them while they were little - it all goes by so fast. How true that is! You have to instill good values and be strong and consistent. The time does fly by and we are blessed with the most amazing young adults ever imaginable. It's a hard job being a parent but the rewards are beyond anything I could have ever imagined. To see our children blossom is the ultimate. Stand your ground and stand up for your beliefs. I am so glad I was so determined about the vaccine waivers - as another good friend told me...blaze a trail and leave a wide path for other parents to follow.

I am thrilled with the beginning of "the college experience" ...stay tuned for more.

Only 3 days 'til College!!!
Wow! It's happening so fast! My daughter leaves for college on Friday. Busy day today as we were shopping for all of the dorm room stuff...sheets, comforter, laundry bag, under the bed storage, towels, wastebasket, and the list goes on and on!
I have Mom's special stash in a pile - Sensé (self preserving formulas - zero preservatives) skin care products, as well as their bath and body - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, firming body nourisher, and toothpaste (no fluoride). Also in this pile are her nutritional supplements- Usana Healthpak 100, which includes a daily pillowpack of vitamins - one morning and the other evening.
I figure she'll rip open a vitamin packet but she would never open several bottles. The Healthpak conveniently contains the Essentials (mega antioxidant and chelated minerals), calcium, proflavanol 90, and an antioxidant booster... for a busy college student this is a comprehensive nutritional program. The Healthpak was designed to provide an optimal balance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, as well as to help maintain healthy eyes, healthy bones, and joints, healthy lungs, and a healthy heart. I will also send her off with Biomega-3 which is the cold water fish oil rich in the important omega-3 fatty acids. That will keep her in tip top shape ! She's a pretty health conscious eater but we all know college students don't always make the best nutritional choices.
Laundry and cleaning products are from Biokleen - Laundry powder, chlorine free and color safe oxygen bleach plus, and Bac-out, my favorite stain and odor eliminator. It is vitally important to reduce the toxic load whenever possible, so I will stock her up with all of the best and safest products from my NEDlife inventory !

Now, here comes the shocking news of the day for me. I got a call from the pediatrician wanting to know if I needed information about the Hep B vaccine for her going off to college ?? I told him we had decided against the vaccine and she had sent a letter to the college saying that she wasn't going to receive it. He said he was aware of that and he had received a letter from the college wanting to know from him if there was a medical reason. He said he couldn't give them one and asked that I contact them. UUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called my friend and chiropractor because he has several great books on why we shouldn't vaccinate and how to get around the "required" vaccinations. He's doing some research tonight and I will talk with him tomorrow. Very frustrating! I thought the whole vaccine thing was behind us!! I'll keep you posted on this!
My daughter is excited about going off to college but today was a little weepy about going away. She came over and we had a snuggle and I told her that yes, it is scary to be going away to school but it is such an exciting time and the beginning of a new phase for her. We talked about family weekend at the end of September, followed closely by Colombus day weekend - the first weekend home. I predicted that she would be having such a good time that she probably wouldn't be wanting to come home an awful lot! She has many friends in and around the greater Boston area. She will have a ball and thinking back on my college experience, I am so excited for her!! I had the time of my life in college - what a wonderful experience. I have many friends from college and we still chat constantly and get together as often as possible. We even compare notes on what our teenagers are up to - it's a riot!
My daughter says - Oh! and my mother hasn't cried yet!! I breezed through her graduation and it didn't occur to me to cry. She and her classmates were having so much fun and it was a fantastic celebration ! Several of her best friends families and myself hosted a great grad party. One highlight was a game that the kids were playing - remember beer pong is college? They were playing it with cups of water and my sister and I started laughing when we realized what they were playing. We took on the boys and beat them soundly. They were amazed and we had a good laugh!!
I'll keep you up to date on college and will definitely report back on moving in day on Friday. Thank goodness John will be with me - I'll need a shoulder to cry on. :)

For more information on the products mentioned , go to www.nedlife.com/evelynwhite

I can't believe my oldest is off to college at the end of this month! It seems as though I have just blinked and she's gone from a beautiful newborn to a beautiful eighteen year old!

She's off to college in MA. and here is the scoop on the "Important Health Information" packet that is required by the school. As you probably know form reading the blogs of other NEDlife coaches, the vaccination debate continues. MA colleges "require" the meningitis and the HepB vaccine. There is a waiver in the packet for meningistis because there is currently a huge shortage of the vaccine. I haven't sent in my packet as my daughter just had her physical last week. I received a 4 page letter from the college pointing out that they had not received her health information and the importance (2 full pages) of the meningitis vaccine. I noticed that there was not a waiver for the Hep B vaccine, so I called the school. Wow, did that phone call take on a chilly tone! After being told that she could die if she contracted HepB I reminded the nice lady that she is neither a prostitute or an IV drug user and I didn't see contracting HepB as very likely. She is required to write a letter and explain why she won't be vaccinated.

I have read research on this HepB vaccine and there are far too many cases of permanent neurological damage as a result. The same goes for meningitis...we were on a head coach conference call last week and one of the effects of the vaccine was a near death experience with regressive autism as a result. The girl that received the vaccine as she was going to college was a fun and athletic student and sounded exactly like my daughter- what a tragic result! She is recovering and cod liver oil is one of the main reasons. (Cod liver oil is available through NEDlife at www.nedlife.com/evelynwhite) My heart skipped a beat when I heard that! Please realize that I am not suggesting that you don't vaccinate - it is a personal decision for everyone. I encourage you to do the research and make your own decision! As for me, I am comfortable and confident with my decison and look forward to seeing my daughter go to college and have the time of her life! I am sure I'l be blogging about the college experience...stay tuned. :)

In my last blog I talked about EMF's or electromagnetic fields...great info and now, as promised, here is more.

I purchased a Tri-field meter - not to be confused with a Gauss meter. The tri-field does just that - it measures electric, magnetic, and radio/microwave detectors in one package. The entire nonionizing (that is, NOT including nuclear radiation) electromagnetic pollution spectrum is covered. Most meters read ONLY low -frequency magnetic fields and ONLY in one direction. The magnetic section of the tri-field meter has three field-detecting coils pointing in the X,Y, and Z directions. A circuit amplifies these signals and gives them proper frequency-weighting (sensitivity increases linearly from 30 Hz to 500Hz, but with some residual sensitivity up to 100 MHz.) Hang with me here - I know this is really technical but it is really cool information! Anyway, The three coils output nonlinearly to approximate true magnitude...translation is that this meter really rocks and is quite amazing!! The cost was $130 which is excellent when you consider many of the gaussmeters are well over $150.

Now, let's get down to why I have this device...as you are probably thinking...she's a freak!! Back in '92 I spent several months in the hospital with a brain tumor and then years trying to get back to normal - healthy has been my goal! I became very interested in electromagnetic fields after listening to Dr. Myron Wentz , the founder of Usana Health Sciences. He did a presentation and spoke of EMF's at a meeting I attended in Canada back a few years ago. This caught my attention in a heartbeat because I have noticed since the operation and radiation that my head is extremely sensitive . I had no idea that it was the electromagnetic fields that I was reacting to. Here's a quick example - if I talk on my cordless phone , I am fatigued mentally and "foggy" is the word I would say best describes the way I feel. Exactly the same for me when I use a cell phone - but NOTHING symptomatic if I use my old faithful corded phone. Remember those!!?? Now, here's the fun part! When I put the Tri-field meter on in the Radio/Microwave setting and put it up next to my cell phone, (on) there is no reading - zero. However, when I recive a call on my cell phone, the reading goes to MAX on the red line and stays there ! When I receive a call on my cordless phone I get the exact same reading - MAX. When I receive a call on my corded phone there is no reading at all - the needle does not move. Guess which phone I am talking on whenever possible?! My old cordless phone -circa 1980. :) They still sell the corded phones and I am going to get rid of my cordless phones. Yes, it will be somewhat inconvenient and my kids will pitch a fit!! But for me, it's a no brainer! :) If I could only get rid of the teenagers cell phones - they think I'm nuts and such a health freak, but the data clearly states that their young and not fully developed brains are really taking a hit from all of the electromagnetic radiation . My teenage girls have cell phones and my 11 year old wants one... It will be a cold day in hell when she gets one!!

Sorry - I'm ranting. Back to the Tri-field meter... my fellow Nedlife head coach Susan asked me to bring the meter to her house. We were blown away by the readings we took from the clock radios and alarm clocks on the bedside tables - yikes!! The reading was MAX from the clock itself and up to about 4 and a half feet away- which was almost to the other side of the bed! Get those clocks away from your beds! The worst offenders are the motor driven clocks with the traditional clock face. Move those clocks and you will sleep better and feel much more rested!

Another palace with high readings is the car - especially near the front floorboard. The reading on the TV is MAX until you get 4-5 feet away. See - our mothers were right about sitting too close to the television!

I am still experimenting with my Tri-field meter and wish the summer would calm down a bit so that I have more time!! Life is incredibly busy these days and the weather is gorgeous - finally! Get outside and breathe in the fresh air and soak up some Vitamin D - summer is such a blessing!!

I'll keep you posted with my ongoing research!!

I would like to share some information about EMFs or Electromagnetic fields. "The invisible beast is so elusive that it cannot be detected by our senses, yet so powerful it can pass through walls, even penetrate solid rock, travel thousands of miles at the speed of light, striking anything and everything in its path. It is virtually around us 24 hours a day and we are all affected by it to some degree." Bruce Fife, ND.
EMFs are forces generated by the flow of electricity. Electrical energy is incorporated into every aspect of our daily lives and this has become a significant threat to our health. It has been accused of causing cancer and even suicide. Frightening power! But it can be totally under our control- with the flick of a switch this powerful force can be knocked dead. We have become too dependent on electricity in our everyday life. Eliminating EMFs would require that we eleiminate all electrical appliances and for us to go back and live like our ancestors did before electric power. This will never happen, so we have to know what we can do to protect ourselves! Todays focus is on EMFs in the home.
Researchers call the radiation emanating from our electrical appliances electrical pollution. It can affect our health causing cancer, disrupt cellular function, and alter hormone levels. Researchers have linked EMF exposure to chronic fatigue syndrome, brain cancer, leukemia, breast and testicular cancer, and neurological disorders. EMFs from home appliances are often stronger than the fields directly below power lines!
So what can we do?? Appliance EMFs drop as you move away from them. The easiest thing you can do is to stay away, especially if the appliance is on. If the coffee maker is plugged in but not on it still is producing an electric field. Unplug appliances when not is use - maybe a bit of a bother at first, but you'll get used to it!!
Sit at arms length from the computer screen. If you spend extended periods of time in front of a computer monitor, consider a newer lower radiation model. They will be labeled "Low radiation" and are required to have low levels of EMF. If you are sitting at the computer working and aren't using it...turn it off!
Electric hair dryers and razors produce high EMFs up close, but since they are used for a short period of time it is generally believed their effects are of minor concern. The worst offender is the electric can opener - MUCH higher than any large appliances . Short time use but it can only be operated by holding on to it !
Not so with appliances that we use for long periods of time - sitting under a lamp, sleeping next to a clock, or working under a ceiling fan. Alarm clocks, especially the older, dial face models are notorious EMF-emitters. I put my alarm clock across the room on my bureau - well away from my head! When the alarm goes off I have to get out of bed to turn it off...then I am up and moving. I use a moonbeam alarm clock - I much prefer waking to a gentle light pulsing than an adrenal rush from the irritating buzz of an alarm. I even unplug the lamp on my bedside table. Try it - I honestly think you will notice a more restful and calm nights sleep.
Some of the worst appliances are those used against the body - electric blankets and matress pad warmers, heating pads, and electrically warmed water beds. These have been shown to cause adverse affects in reproduction and children's health. Stop using the electric blanket or turn it on before getting into bed and then unplug it before diving in! Long story short, don't stand in front of an appliance that is on. Unplug anything that you aren't using - blender, coffee maker, toaster, etc. STOP those EMFs whenever possible!
You can measure EMFs around the home with a gaussmeter. It is a handheld device that measures magnetic field strength. A good one is about $150. You may want to contact your utility company. Many will conduct EMF measurements for their customers at no charge. However, if you have a gaussmeter you are able to determine the EMF of individual home appliances as well as EMFs through walls, etc. I will keep you posted as I am running an experiment on EMFs at my house....more to come.
Bottom line - keep your family safe by turning off the power - eliminate as many EMFs as possible!
My next blog....cell phones. Lots of information you don't want to hear - but need to know!!!
